About

Initiatives to decolonize science and technology are being championed by activists, researchers, and politicians across the globe.

This page is for those who want to join the struggle.

These initiatives pursue varied goals to “decolonize science” such as

  • changing the structures and hierarchies of classrooms
  • modernizing, contextualizing and re-indigenizing curricula
  • recontextualizing the history of science
  • reclaiming resources and objects of study
  • recentering Indigenous contributions
  • revolutionizing science governance
  • interrogating research methodologies
  • implementing participatory approaches to democratize science
  • addressing science didactics and science communication

While the various implementations have to be different based on their local contexts, ALL of science needs to be decolonized everywhere eventually, i.e. globally concerted efforts will be required to connect these various struggles to build un mundo donde quepan muchos mundos (i.e. a world where many worlds fit).
